My heartiest congrats to Mama Patch!!

Time flies....Mama Patch is already 1 year old! I want to win 1 piece of her exclusive Pastel Silk Baby Ring Sling!! Oh btw, Chinnee has asked me whether My MiniB Shoppe is turning 1yr old too in March? Tssk..tssk..tssk..sendiri also lupa! Yeah, I've started it almost the same time with her too. Let's see what shall I do for MiniB Shoppe's 1st year anniversary.

I tell you, Chinnee's ring sling is very nice as I've tried wearing Smellybutt with it during a talk/demo at FabulousMom shop in Puchong last year. Talking about ring sling....I've bought a pair of nice ring from her and till now (daughter already 29mth old!!) I have yet to make a ring sling for Smellybutt. Lousy...lousy...No time lah (my ever green excuse). I hope I can win 1 so that I can use it for my New Zealand (NZ) trip in May 2010. Smellybutt is 10kg now (see, she inherits my extremely outstanding metabolism power) and although she's small size for her age, but to carry her for more than 20mins seems to be a torture for us, especially when we travel. So I need a carrier for our NZ trip! We all want to be back home sweet home in 1 piece!! I mean we don't want to break our own hands/back bone lah (touch wood!).

Babywearing workshop - it was fun!

Last Saturday, I've attended a babywearing workshop organised by FabulousMom. The speaker was non other than Chinnee - founder of Mama Patch and also a professional baby wearing advisor.

It was just an hour talk, from 11am to 12pm. I was late by 10 minutes :( paiseh... Luckily still have available seat for me to squeeze in with Smellybutt. It was indeed a very informative talk about baby wearing. Though I am not using a ring sling at all time, but I still love to find out (another word - kepoh) about how to use it and the correct way to thread a ring sling. Chinnee brought along a few of her ring slings for all participants to try out. I've tried the raw silk ring sling. Very soft fabric, yet not slippery at all when I've put my gal on the sling. Smellybutt behaved pretty well, she just munched on raisins and bread throughout the talk. Occasionally observing at other kids who were busy crawling and walking all around the room :P

I regretted for not using it for Smellybutt when she was younger. Never mind, start now, it'll never be too late. Furthermore, she seems to be happy hanging on my lousy shawl-sling too ^_^ huhuhu. Whenever I need to do grocery shopping with Smellybutt, I will tag along my lousy DIY sling. It will be useful when she's tired of walking, running and even get bored for sitting too long in her stroller. I guess she loves to be in the sling now. I MUST make one!! My poor golden rings being kept aside for too long liao...

But before that, I gotto decide which type of fabric to use - shantung silk or cotton? Dilemma...Dilemma...

p/s : Brought my camera along for the talk, but not enough hand to snap picture. Also too obsessed with the slings and information...and not forgetting her 2 lil handsome boys too! Drooling....muahahaha!!

Getting started with it

I have never been a fan of baby sling/pouch. Tried once on Smellybutt few months ago and she doesn't like it. I don't like it either, as the one that I've tested on wasn't that fitting for my short and fleshless body. So we both hated it :P

BUT...after I've seen a few baby wearing video from UTube, it changes my mind. I started to read more about DIY baby ring sling. The word DIY, means to fork out lesser money from my wallet :) Ya ya..I'm a bit kedekut. I wouldn't want to spend RM100++ for a ring sling for a start. Unless if Smellybutt is happy with it, then I will think twice though.

I've found out that I can turn a piece of shawl into a baby pouch! Oooh...isn't that a smart and cheap solution?!! But you need to be very careful with the cloth material. Silap silap..your baby will be on the floor anytime if you use the wrong and cheapo material. I have a shawl, the color came off when I washed it for the 1st time...the 2nd and the 3rd time...ok I had enough of it. Out of curiosity, I've decided to transform that shawl into a baby pouch. No ring needed. From what I've learnt thru the DIY baby sling website, I can just tie a knot at the two end and it'll be ready for use.

The result : She began to like it after a few try, I don't have to beg her to sit on it anymore ^_^

I don't use it for long hours, as I know my shawl is not made of good quality cotton. I tag it along whenever she's with me to the shopping mall. I only use it whenever she looks sleepy and yet still trying very hard to be alert on the stroller. Just put her on the pouch, pat her a bit and she will ZzZzz....sometimes will use it when we go to the pasar malam too.

Since she's now comfortable with my cheapo baby pouch, might as well I get a proper one for her, right. Most importantly, I don't want her to fall off from it one fine day (touch wood!) . In fact, I've wanted to make my own baby ring sling . Ambitious huh (",) I've even bought a pair of aluminium ring from Mamapatch some time ago.
