Pre Birthday bash

Last Saturday, 2 October 2010, we had a wonderful pre-birthday celebration for 3 Octorian VIPs ~ Smellybutt, Dun Dun and my cousin's son at Sin Choi Wah Restaurant, Manjalara Kepong. Despite to the big crowd on weekend plus 2 wedding banquets on that day, we've managed to get a private room for ourselves (early booking).

My cousin sister went there earlier to decorate the room with some banners on the wall. She also bought plenty of helium balloons for the kids too. Boy, those helium balloons were so expensive! But once a year, never mind lah.

Here's the Baskin Robbins ice cream cake for Smellybutt. I've changed the design, due to budget constraint, coz I wanted to have a full ice cream cake instead of half chocolate cake + half ice cream. This 9" chocolate ice cream cake was sooooo delicious and just nice for 23 pax. There were 3 cakes in total, so after the candle blowing session, we all gasak the ice cream cake first before it melts.

But to cut this ice cream cake, really need full force and skill. After 3 birthday songs and helping Smellybutt to blow off the stubborn sparkling candles, the ice cream cake remained frozen and hard! In the end, the cake was cut into pieces with free size :P

Here they are, the 2 mini superstar of the day....Smellybutt with the lil cousin brother in soldier tee =)

Smellybutt enjoyed herself so much, especially when blowing off the candles. My cousin bought special candles, where it sparkles the moment you lite it. And it was not easy for Smellybutt to blow it off. Better so, since she loves to blow candles so much!

Smellybutt couldn't wait any longer and was bugging me to let her open her pressies. Actually, she knew what was it coz we bought a few presents together with her. My other cousins gave me their budget for their gifts to Smellybutt, and I kao tim myself what to buy for her. They have been cracking their heads when thinking what to buy. So, I let Smellybutt opened 1 present only while we were still in the restaurant.

This is a cash register machine! Very cute and colorful! The moment Smellybutt opened it, her 2 other cousin brothers came to play together. 3 of them sticked to it for a good 15min. Notice the small change and notes? Geng hor! And even got receipt too, from the bear's head. It has a hand held scanner as well. The moment you press on it, there will be a beep sound. And when you press the open button, the cash tray will pop out with a "kaachingg" sound! I had fun playing with it also lah =)

On the very next day, Smellybutt was asking for another present. Again, she also knew what would it be coz we bought it together with the cash register machine.

This is a kitchen set with juice blender, coffee maker and a cake mixer. For the coffee maker, I can play it with water too. But in the end, Smellybut pour water into all the containers!

Stay tuned for the next celebration at her pre-school on the actual day. Also to celebrate with her beloved Baba also lah, coz last Saturday HubB was in overseas for work =(

Tearless jab at all

Couple of weeks ago, we brought Smellybutt to the Pediatric for her 2nd Hepatitis A jab. As usual, the clinic was full of people. To be more precise, we had to wait for another 6 kiddies patient then only would be our turn. That 6 kiddies wait took us more than 1.5 hour! And once Smellybutt's name being called, we only stayed in the consultation room for less than 3min. Actually fast means nothing serious lah right. Should thank God also.

Dr Tan checked her height and weight. She has grew taller and gained some weight too (11kg! Yay!) Then the nurse asked me to hold her hand tight while Popo diverted her attention with some toys on the table. Dr Tan tried to hide away the needle as he approached nearer, but some how Smellybutt kepoh and turned to look at him...and the needle =) Sepantas kilat, Dr Tan poked her left thigh and the nurse quickly affixed a small plaster on that part. I thought Smellybutt would cry just like she did 6 months ago when getting her 1st Hep A jab. But this round, surprise surprise! She didn't shed a single tears at all =) She only uttered "pain pain ar" and that was it. Before we left the room, she even said bye bye to Dr Tan. Waaa amazing...Dr Tan was happy with her greeting, and so did Popo and I. Sudah besar lah anakku ^_^ or was it because she is more thick skin already? Hmm.....

After that visit to the Pediatric, she pestered me to dig out this set of 'doctor equipment' from the store room.

And then she said she wanted to be a doctor coz Popo was sick! (Choy!!)

So here she is....handling her favorite potato couch patient. She gave her patient a hair cut first...and then followed by an ear treatment! She did used the stethoscope, but then I couldn't managed to snap the picture coz I was too tired that time. Wasted lah...coz she pointed it on Popo's chest, and then to the left and right, as if she was trying to get the heart beat. Then she moved on to Popo's neck, face, nose and finally the eyes! Hehehe.

Mini taukeh soh

I'm so happy to have bought, or rather rebut this set of kitchen (brand is Lil Chef) from a blogshop seller. Yes! It's a 2nd hand item and is selling like hot cake! I've missed out a few time, not fast enough to rebut it with other buyers. Hahahaha. Who would have thought of such thing is so laku leh. Though 2nd hand, it is still in good condition. Only the top rack color has faded a bit (it's red and memang red color can fade easily). In total, I've paid RM120 inclusive of shipping fee. Those new set from Mothercare or Toy's R Us will cost me a bomb - RM350 to RM450/set without accessories!! Seller used KTM service as shipment method. I've never heard before leh.

It has these features:
  • build in oven
  • build in cabinet (the other side of the kitchen)
  • stove - both gas stove and induction cooker style! don't play play :P
  • a sink with water tap (Smellybutt's top favorite!)

I first saw this kind of kitchen set from Teacher Nel's school. It is so cute and the first time Smellybutt saw it, she was very in love with it as well. I have informed my parents about this item, so they need to keep an eye on the postman. I told them that once the parcel has arrived, try not to open it first as I will assemble it when I'm back home. But I didn't know that it came without a box. The seller just wrapped the whole set with cling wrap O_O Like that also can....geng!

So...when I reached home, the bottom part of the kitchen already been unwrapped. Smellybutt was so eager to play with it, so excited with it!

Here's the happy taukeh soh, with her kitchen.

DunDun bought this mini teapot for her from the morning market quite some time ago. It is very cute actually, and now it matches the kitchen so well. We can't touch it, otherwise there will be a stern warning from taukeh soh, "Don't Touch!!".

Almost every night she will "hoi dong", start her business with our orderings - Popo wanted a cup of Latte, DunDun wanted a cup of kopi-o and a cup of barley ice for myself. But most of the time, we never get our drinks. Because half way doing it, all of the sudden she'll ask us to brush teeth, gargle and then wash our hands in the sink!!! Her favorite activity is wash hand and play the water tap. Wherever we go for our meal, her eyes will wonder around looking for a sink and water tap. When she found it, she will demand us to carry her to the sink and wash her hand. But when we wanted her to wash her hand after playing with her stuff, she refused. Pengsan or not....

See, she looks so dedicated to her job!

It came with a few pieces of masak masak tools only. So majority of the cooking tools are her own collection. There are so many other types of accessories for the kitchen set. Once I saw a big box from Toys' R Us which contained lots of mini plastic canned food, juice bottles, oyster sauce lah, etc etc. Not cheap you know, that 40 over pieces of accessories costs about RM50++ if not mistaken.

No regret of buying this kitchen set for her. It is nice and fun to interact with her this way. She gets to learn and enhance her fine motor skill, vocab and politeness whereas we get entertainment from her :P

Once she gets bored with this kitchen and really 100% ditch it aside, I can sell it out again =)

More jigsaw puzzle

Lately Smellybutt seems to be so in love with jigsaw puzzle. Here's another new simple puzzle which I've bought from Jusco, only RM7.90. But this is too simple for her, as she can do it all by herself after we demo to her once.

Cheap though but it doesn't come with a base. So we just used a double sided tape to stick a small piece of paper at the back of it.

Yesterday, my mom saw some cute jigsaw puzzle from a shop which sells cheap stuff all made in China. Each of it only costs RM2!!! Smellybutt was with her at that time, and she was so happy to bring them back home. Each set consists of 20pcs. My mom has demo to her once, and reminded her to complete the side way first. Yesterday night, it was her turn to demo to me =) and she has managed to complete more than half of the jigsaw puzzle, thru trial and error. First attempt on this slightly larger scale, not bad at all :)

Oh btw, she said something really funny to me while she was playing with it. When she found the right piece which fitted the puzzle correctly, I said "Very good!!" and then she automatically said "ama jiak ku loot!!" (literally means mommy eats choc). LOL! I used to say this to my friends when I was younger. It was meant to tease people lah, something like padan muka awak. So, how come she knew that ayat power? It was my mom lah, she said that to her once or twice coz Smellybutt hurt herself when told her not to do the dangerous thing.

Really glad that she loves to play with jigsaw puzzle, as it is good for children. Here are some of the benefits:
  • problem solving skill in young minds
  • improves hand eye coordination, fine motor skills and attention
  • creates self confident and self-motivated learners

Go get 1 or more for your children!

I help you lah

On chor 3 (3rd day of CNY), Smellybutt was very happy to be back home in KL. No no, don’t get me wrong ya. She did enjoyed her stay in Ipoh very much, but just that she didn’t have much things to do to kill her time there. I only brought a long 3 of her favourite toys – jigsaw puzzle, ABC puzzle and color pencils. Her major hobby has got to do with water! She loves to play with water very much. Aiyah, hardly find children hates water right? Even if I just give her a small pail of water and some masak masak tools, she can keep pouring water from 1 container to another for a very long time.

She just had her shower, smells good and clean. But the moment she saw her Popo at the car porch arranging flower pots, lil kepohchi wait no more! Dashed out immediately and said to Popo “I help you!!”. Help do what ar?? IF she touches the flowers, their life span will be shorten immediately. IF she siram bunga, there’ll be making of “Tsunami : Revenge on flower pots”. IF she helps to remove those dead leaves/flowers, maybe in the end we only get to see the pot and soil only. So, to avoid all these disastrous IF’s, Popo quickly set up a “stall” for her, with lots of WATER in a big plastic container.

See, she clad on a waterproof apron, so that she won’t get wet.

Popo already placed her order with iron chef, and there she goes, happily preparing barley drinks lah, latte ice lah, kari mee pedas lah…semua Popo’s favourite!

Busy walking up and down and repeated Popo’s order for more than 5x!! Customer service ma….

In the end, floor was wet, shoes also wet, and above all her once-smells-good head also wet wet wet! Sweating gila!! No doubt, the weather was super hot, be it in Ipoh or KL. If stay in the house, I do feel like as if I am teppanyaki-ing myself!!! Behtahan!!

World of jigsaw puzzle

Lately, Smellybutt is so into jigsaw puzzle game. She used to have this 2 set of puzzles only, which are way too complicated for her to deal with in the beginning. She doesn't like playing with it at all, EXCEPT menconteng the puzzle with pen! I got these as free gift from Carrefour last year.

2 weeks ago, while I was looking for Joey Yap's fengshui and astrology book in Popular Book Shop, I stumbled upon this simple children's jigsaw puzzle. Not too expensive though, only RM19.90 for a set of 8 different insects picture puzzle. Quality is good too. Before I let her play with it, I've been giving her numerous warning not to conteng this set of puzzle, coz I paid for it! Hahahahaha!!! So far so good, she has been taking good care of it and even reminded me that she is not allowed to conteng her puzzle =)

To my surprise, she has managed to conquer all these 8 jigsaw puzzles within a week time. And best of all, she could remembered the name of the insects too, with some little help from me for certain insect's name. I've gotto give her some hint, by saying "Dra" and she would continued saying "dragonfly" when I pointed at it.

This cricket has got 5pcs to be assembled together. The most would be dragonfly and stag beetle, which have 7pcs each.

This jigsaw puzzle had accompanied her throughout her 5D4N stay in Ipoh. She has yet to get bored with it at the moment. But somehow I feel that she didn't have the challenge anymore since she already knew how to assemble each of it and even can tell me the name of the insects. I thought that I've wrongly purchased it for her, thought that this set of jigsaw puzzle was meant for 1yro ++. But as I studied the details at the back of the box, it stated there "for 3yr and above"!. Waaa...I am so proud of her, as she (currently 2yr 4mth) could easily solved the puzzle which were meant for 3yr old kids =)

I may start to look out for a more challenging set for her!

Her 1st Barney soft toy

Geezz...I am really happy and proud of my lil samseng girl lah. She could sing (besides cari gaduh at pre school!) the whole Barney's famous song "I love you" since last month. And coincidentally Aunty Dory bought her a Barney soft toy just at the right time. Will upload her solo unplugged performance video separately.

That toy has got the same song too. Press on Barney's belly and we can listen to the song. Smellybutt loves Barney even more now =) This is also her first Barney soft toy, although she has been Barney's fan for almost a year.

Barney says I LOVE YOU!

Last weekend, she was playing with it and the moment she saw me holding my camera, this lil fella said "mama, take picture for me!" Ok, so she held it tightly, stood beside the playpen with her killer pose! Yes, killer pose without a smile, except Barney :P

After a few round coaxing her to smile....here you go....

Then, lil makcik wanted to change her backdrop, and had chosen the window area. Unfortunately, her height has just reached the curtain's level and the curtain was swiping her head non stop due to the fan.

Jeling the curtain till eyes became "dao kai ngan" look!!

Finally she got sooooo pissed off with the curtain and started to scold it "go away la!! zhao!!" LOL! While she nagged the curtain, her hand kept pushing it away. Makcik sudah geram oooo...and I enjoyed her show so much!

Next, she wanted to teach Barney to write. Since she already mastered half of the pen gripping skill from the pre school, she guided Barney to hold her pen.

She tried many times to kepit the pen between Barney's hand and body, but the pen kept falling off. Finally she behtahan and asked me this soalan cepu mas "mama, where's Barney's hand?". Muahaha. I knew what she meant. She wanted to ask me where's Barney's fingers actually. She got fed up after a few failure attempts to let Barney hold the pen. So I've explained to her that Barney has got 2 hands, but without fingers. So that is why Barney couldn't grip your pen lor. Luckily she didn't ask me why Barney doesn't have fingers?!

In the end, she just held Barney's hand together with the pen and
happily conteng the paper . Mission accomplished!

New masak masak

Dun Dun bought her these new masak masak toys for Smellybutt. Big pot small pot, big stove small stove, forks and spoons, cups and plates. Macam-macam ada.

That's the proud lil Iron Chef with her cooking tools lah.

Sometimes api kuat sangat...too glaring so Iron Chef gotto put on her stylish Lydia Sum's glasses. Yellow pulak tu!!

Ada gaya ooo....

See how she spreads her masak-masak tools on these 2 tables. Every night, without fail...we have to carry her 'work station' from the other end to the sofa.

When fengshui tak baik, she'll change her sitting position to the comfy sofa instead.

Normally we'll make our order of 1 cup of coffee for Popo, 1 cup of barley ice for mama. She even told us "very tasty u know" while preparing the drinks for us!! We do have lots of fun pretending to be her customer. One of the best quote from her when Popo ordered a cup of Latte.

Popo : QQ, I want a cup of Latte.
QQ : (stared at her blankly! In her heart she might be saying what the hell is Latte??)
Popo : Latte is like coffee also
QQ : (smiled)....(mumbled this softly) "Hei yao chi lei ar...want Lat teh".
LOL!!
